Brick-Based Group Counseling for Children and Adolescents

  • Learners will identify the core principles of brick-based group counseling and explain how structured play activities support the social and emotional development of children and adolescents. 
  • Learners will describe how cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) concepts can be integrated into brick-based group counseling to promote communication, collaboration, and self-expression among young clients. 
  • Learners will apply evidence-based brick-based counseling activities that can be implemented in school or clinical settings to support children's and adolescents' social-emotional growth and group engagement.

Charity A. Kurz, PhD, LPCC

Charity A. Kurz, PhD, LPCC (Ohio), LPC (Texas), NCC is a licensed professional clinical counselor in Ohio, a licensed school counselor in Ohio, a licensed professional counselor in Texas, a national certified counselor, and an Associate Professor of Counseling in the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies at Liberty University. Charity earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from The Pennsylvania State University and has served as a special education teacher and school counselor in multiple school districts. She has also worked in clinical mental health settings, including career counseling, college counseling, and private practice. Her research interests include transitioning students with disabilities to postsecondary options, career development, counseling children and adolescents using creative interventions, assessment, global mental health, and best practices for online education, and she is excited to share her passion for brick building and counseling.

Clint Limoges, LPC

Dr. Clint Limoges is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri. He owns and operates the Center for Child and Family Counseling in St. Charles, Missouri. Dr. Limoges’ practice includes working with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral issues. He also works closely with the St. Charles family court system to provide individual, family, and parent-reunification counseling for children and adolescents experiencing divorce. Prior to becoming a counselor educator, Dr. Limoges spent 15 years working for a large behavioral health network as an embedded school-based counselor and a regional clinical director. He and his wife, Cherye, have three grown children and three grandchildren.
